Muay Thai is not only one of the most respectable martial arts in the world, but also one of the most effective means to avoid yourself from getting robbed—and to burn calories.

If you were interested to learn Muay Thai or to upgrade your art-of-eight-limbs’ skill, you could go to one of these eight recommended Muay Thai gyms in Bali:

Takeshi Muay Thai Club

Formerly known as Takeshi Fight Club, Takeshi Muay Thai Club (TMC) is committed to introducing the martial art to the locals. No wonder they often take their members to practice in public spaces like Renon Square.

The gym of TMC is situated on Jalan Tukad Badung 111X Denpasar and is suitable for all levels. They offer trial session and a list of membership-packages which you can choose according to your preferences, from the cheapest one (a single session, IDR100,000) to the most expensive one (a six-month unlimited package, IDR4,000,0000).

Ubud Muay Thai

The alluring slowness of Ubud living was irritating for two young Muay Thai practitioners. They thought people had to move more and burn calories. If not people would retain fat. That’s why they founded the first Muay Thai gym in Ubud: Ubud Muay Thai.

A single session of Muay Thai practice in Ubud Muay Thai will cost you IDR120,000 (for Indonesian ID card holder it is only IDR80,000). If you are curious, make your way to Jalan Nyuh Gading No. 19 Ubud.

Fight Right

Fight Right has a spacious gym on Gang Merpati I No. 27, Sanur, where you can learn Muay Thai—as well as boxing, jiu-jitsu, and MMA. After several training sessions in Fight Right, you’ll be more confident walking through small, dark alleyways in the night.

Compared to other Muay Thai gyms in Bali, the price for joining a single session in Fight Right is rather cheap as it only costs you IDR50,000. If you find it interesting, you can continue your lesson by taking its eight-day package for only IDR300,000.

What makes this gym interesting is that it’s only three doors down from the legendary Bingin Beach to which surfers bring their surfboards and dance with the waves. Bali Training centre offers four Muay Thai classes a week and caters every level of Muay Thai fighter.

The price for a single group-class of Muay Thai is only IDR150,000 per person which is, given the location, quite reasonable. But if you wanted a more intensive Muay Thai training, you could book their private classes. Bali Training Centre is situated at Cashew Tree, Jalan Pantai Bingin, Pecatu.
