Balingkang Kintamani Festival 2019
5 February - 7 March
To be able to revive Chinese foreign tourists visiting Bali, the Vice Governor of Bali and tourism stakeholders will conduct a festival of Chinese New Year 2019 on 6th February 2019. The event will emphasize the cultural relations between China and
Bali that has been established since ancient times. Chinese tourists have so far only enjoyed natural tourist attractions rather than local culture. The acculturation between two cultures has actually occurred since ancient times, evidenced by the Balingkang royal site in Bali. With the Balingkang Kintamani Festival, Chinese tourists will be introduced to Balinese culture and how the culture interacted with Chinese culture in the past time.
Balingkang Kintamani Festival 2019 is an initiation from the Bali Provincial Government with Bali Tourism Board (BTB) in order to boost the arrival of Chinese tourists in the Chinese New Year 2019 momentum. “So this (culture), one of the tools we use,” said Tjokorda Oka Artha Ardana Sukawati, Vice Governor of Bali. With this festival, he wants to develop a new attraction for Bali, especially in Batur, Kintamani by promoting culture. The festival, which is centered in front of Batur Temple, Kintamani, will raise the story of Dalem Balingkang. By collaborating with Bali Liang, hopefully, 2,000 Chinese visitors will be directed to Batur, Kintamani to see the parade and festival. This festival will emphasize the acculturation of Balinese and Chinese culture through a love triangle story between Raja Jaya Pangus, Putri Kang Cing We, and Dewi Danu which are packaged in the form of a cultural parade.
