We understand it’s hard to resist the temptation of having a bite to eat at the traditional Balinese food warungs as they offer bold yet tasty dishes like nasi campur and babi guling. But—come on!—it is the Lunar New Year. Why don’t you forget your favourite warung for one night and set your bearing to one of these Lunar New Year’s events instead:

Golden Lotus’s Chinese New Year Special

Chinese New Year’s Eve dinner means nothing when there is no plate of Yee Sang on the table. For the sake of the authenticity, Golden Lotus comes up with several options of Yee Sang portions with reasonable prices for you—small (IDR 95,000), medium (IDR 185,000), and large (IDR 260,000). For just around IDR 30,000 more, you can have Hong Wan Salmon plus Yee Sang.

The restaurant doesn’t only offer mouth-watering food, but also entertainments, though not every day. On February 4 there’s gonna be a Barongsai performance, while the next day, February 5, a Chinese Duo’s gonna cheer up the night. To enjoy the Lunar New Year’s ambience of Golden Lotus Restaurant, visit Bali Dynasty Resort on Jalan Kartika, Kuta Selatan.

Authentic Cantonese Dinner at Ah Yat Abalone Seafood Restaurant at RIMBA

If you are seeking for a more specific Chinese New Year’s experience, make your way to Ah Yat Abalone Seafood Restaurant. While most of the restaurants only serve “general” Chinese food, Ah Yat Abalone prepares an Authentic Cantonese Dinner.

From 4 to 19 February 2019 the kitchen will serve three special sets of menu—Ji Xiang Ru Yi (IDR 988,000+++/pax), Nian Nian You Yu (IDR 1,388,000++/pax), and Feng Sheng Sui Qi (IDR 1,989,000++/pax). Book a table for 4 February if you want to enjoy dinner while listening to the melodious, spirit-injecting echo of Chinese’s harp.

Chinese New Year Dinner Babah & Njonja Oei Love Story at Tugu Hotel

You will understand how it feels to be the two-faced January after having Chinese New Year’s Eve supper at Tugu Hotel, Jalan Pantai Batu Bolong, Canggu; a part of you is embracing the Earth Pig Year and the other is reminiscing the past years—way, way back.

Why? You wonder. Because this year’s theme of Tugu Hostel’s Chinese New Year Dinner is “Babah & Njonja Oei Love Story” which will bring you back to 1950s (which is almost seven decades ago and—we are sure—long before you’re parents are even met). For IDR 600K++/pax you will enjoy seven nostalgic Peranakan dishes, prosperity toss salad, and live Barongsai performance.

Capodanno Cinese 2019 at Settimo Cielo Bali

A Chinese New Years Eve dinner at an Italian restaurant? We can see that you’re frowning. But—bear with us—this is where to go when you want to have a different Lunar New Year’s Eve dining experience. From 2 to 6 February 2019, Capodanno Cinese 2019 at Settimo Cielo (Jalan Pangkung Sari No. 10A, Seminyak) will take you to a mouth-watering culinary adventure by serving rustic refined Italian with a Chinese touch.

Lotus Restaurant celebrates Chinese New Year by serving a handful of Chinese food, from hot and sour international Chinese soup (containing prawn, bamboo shoot, carrot, leek), assorted dim sum (with beef, prawn, and vegetables), to Chinese marinated pork loin.

The feast will be held on 5 February 2019, from 6 pm to 10.30 pm. Though the restaurant is at a hotel, Melia Bali (ITDC Lot 1, Nusa Dua), the food is not too pricey as you only have to pay for IDR 490,000++/person—a really reasonable price to kickstart your Earth Pig year.
