Where to Go to if You Want to Have Mouth-Watering Ice Cream and Gelato in Bali

Although during the rainy seasons the rain sometimes falls quite heavy, Bali is still hot at days. The heat may be pretty unbearable. In case you forget: Bali is a tropical island. But no worries. The heat is a problem that can be overcome easily. There are many ways to get rid of it. First, you can simply throw your clothes; secondly, if you have access to a unit of air-con, turn it on; thirdly, you can chill yourself at one of these cafes, restaurants, and gelaterias selling mouth-watering ice cream and gelato in Bali:

Perched on Jalan Mertanadi No. 46 Kerobokan Kelod, Gusto Gelato & Caffe serves 57 flavours mixed from natural ingredients.

Once a small gelateria, now Gusto has a spacious outlet, though it does not affect the taste in some way or another, which is great. So no wonder it is sometimes packed with people because everyone in town is curious to taste everything served at Gusto.

Gusto Gelato will save you from the heat of Bali. As you step foot on the floor of the outlet, it is as if a cool breeze blows, making yourself chill instantly as well as other people who are enjoying their cold sherbet and gelato.

Massimo Ristorante

As one of a few Italian restaurants in Bali—and, perhaps, in Indonesia—it is only natural that Massimo Ristorante serves gelato. In fact, they serve the homemade ones which, they claim, “… will bring back that carefree spirit of your childhood—or evoke a fun-filled memory.”

However, you can guess from the name that Massimo Ristorante is not only serving gelato. If they do, they needn’t use the word “ristorante.” So besides enjoying the gelato, you can also have a bite of Italian cuisines cooked by the real Italian.

Try one of their delicacies featuring mozzarella, because, as they do with gelato, they also produce their own mozzarella cheese. Find Massimo Ristorante on Jalan Danau Tamblingan No. 228 Sanur.

Gaya Gelato

Managed by people who are really passionate about gelato, and food and beverages in general, Gaya Gelato takes the making of the gelato seriously.

They only use the best locally grown ingredients in order to present an authentic taste—and voice—to their customers. There are no artificial substances used in their gelato, only the natural ones.

Besides gelato, Gaya also offers freshly baked biscuits and cookies that will become the perfect company for your tasty gelato. Gaya Gelato has nine parlours in Bali, five in Jakarta, and one in Italy.

Gelato Secrets

Gelato Secrets is pretty old. It was born in 2009 and since then has never stopped discovering the way to bridge the East and the West.

Well, it is rather hard to connect the East and the West, though, at least according to what has proven by history. However, to some extent, they have succeeded. Their gelato, sherbet, waffles, and beverages employ the best natural ingredients from Bali. Their menu is the efficiency of the West combined with the unpredictability of the East.

The gelateria has already opened eleven outlets, three of which are in Jakarta. In Bali, you can find Gelato Secrets in Sanur, Seminyak, Canggu, Batu Bolong, Tanah Lot, and Ubud.

Visiting Gelato Factory on Jalan Puputan, Renon, for the first time, you might wonder who on earth owns Gelato Factory: Barney, Dora the Explorer, or Deep Purple? The reason is obvious: because both the interior and the furniture are purplish.

But it is not that kind of boring purple. Instead, it is the purple that will make you suddenly romantic and calm your nerves every time you look at it. Hanging out here at Gelato Factory will make you forget about an abstract concept called time.

Besides gelato, the Factory also serves kinds of juices and smoothies and European dishes such as pizza, waffle, crepes, and french fries. The good news, the gelato is rather cheap, starting from IDR 20K.

Wala Gelato Ice Cream

To reach Wala Gelato Ice Cream, you need to go to the LeMeridien Hotel Jimbaran because the gelateria is situated inside the hotel.

Although it has dozens of flavours, most of the people which had visited Wala were dazzled by its coffee-flavoured gelatos. For around IDR 50K a scoop, you can have a chill afternoon waiting for the sun to go home to its limbo.

However, besides ice cream and gelato, Wala also serves coffee drinks, from espresso, cafe latte, cappuccino, to macchiato.

If every chemical lab in the world is like Icelab Finest Gelato, the world will never run out of chemistry experts.

Instead of thick bottles of two-molar chloric acid and centrifuges, the “laboratory” of Icelab Finest Gelato on Jalan Pantai Kuta No. 36 Bali has various ice cream ingredients and toppings on the table.

You can just buy the gelato or sherbet and take it away, but you will miss something. The outlet of Icelab seems to be designed specifically to make people reluctant to leave and, as a result, stay there till the end of time. Tasting mouth-watering, homemade gelato at a such cosy a place will definitely be one of the highlights of your Bali days.

Paletas Wey

Paletas Wey serves ice creams and popsicles in a stick. It is not that kind of stick you use when attempting a hole in one on the golf course, but a wooden stick or palette in Spanish.

It offers several kinds of paletas on the menu, namely fruity, creamy, premium, and gold. The fruity paletas are made of ripped and blended fruits, the creamy paletas are concocted from fruits and some pasteurized milk, while the last two variants are basically the premium versions of the first two of paletas.

Entering the Indonesian ice cream battleground in early 2015, now Paletas Wey has more than 15 outlets. From Bali, Paletas Wey has advanced to several big cities in Indonesia, namely Jakarta, Surabaya, Medan, Yogyakarta, and Bandung. In Bali itself, Paletas Wey has opened eight outlets!

What are you waiting for? Go get your gelato!
